On a point of order, Pakistan Peoples' Party Parliamentarians Senator Farhatullah Babar insisted that there was contradiction between the statement of education minister and the written answer given during the question hour the other day.
He claimed that on November 22, he had asked about the government giving Rs 5 billion to Fauji Jordan Fertiliser as compensation or concession and Javed Ashraf Qazi had told the House that no such concession was given to as the fertilisers was a private entity.
"But contrary to the minister's statement, the ministry of finance had conceded that concession to the tune of Rs 5 billion was given to the entity," he maintained.
The PPPP Senator wanted to know why this contradiction, and whether or not the government could give such concessions to private entities, as claimed the minister that the entity was private.
Babar had contended that instead of this concession to a private company, the colossal amount should have been given for relief and rehabilitation of the earthquake victims.
The chair, however, did not refer the matter to the House privilege committee.
